Seeka is a leading horticultural company in New Zealand, renowned for its production of kiwifruit, avocados, and other premium produce. The company compliments it local workforce with a diverse staff of seasonal workers, who play a crucial role in planting, harvesting, and packing operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products to markets worldwide. Seeka, led by Chief Executive Michael Franks, greatly values its seasonal workers, particularly the Recognised Seasonal Employees (RSEs) who have been essential during the labour shortage in the kiwifruit harvest and orchard operations. Seeka is committed to providing quality accommodation for their staff, ensuring that their workers have a comfortable home away from home during their time with the company.
In 2023 Seeka completed the construction of the new Turanga Whetu Village in Aongatete. Designed to house 140 RSE workers, Turanga Whetu means ‘star base’, as the location provides a view of the Southern Cross at night. Continuing the long standing partnership with Seeka, Vendella was approached to furnish the bedrooms and communal kitchen and dining areas. Staff Accommodation Specialist, Greg Richards worked alongside the Seeka team to select fit for purpose products that were going to provide comfort and an inviting space for Seeka workers.
Vendella made the Turanga Whetu project easy for Seeka by acting as a one-stop shop, providing everything from bedding and sofas to cutlery. They worked closely with the team to arrange deliveries that met project deadlines and offered custom, commercial-grade products perfectly suited for staff accommodation.
