What Pillows Do Hotels Use?

Most hotels keep it simple with medium-profile polyester pillows — they’re durable, hypoallergenic, and suit the majority of guests. Deluxe rooms often feature feather and down for that premium, sink-in feel, while some properties add specialty options like memory foam or gel. Offering a mix on the bed or a pillow menu lets guests choose what works best for them — and that little bit of choice goes a long way to boosting comfort.

Why Are Hotel Pillows So Comfortable?

Hotel pillows feel so good because they’re made with quality fill that keeps its loft and support, and they’re generously filled for that plush, cloud-like feel. Properties also replace them regularly to keep them fresh and hygienic, and often provide a variety on the bed so every guest can find their perfect fit.

How Frequently Should Hotel / Motel Pillows be Replaced?

In commercial settings, pillows typically need replacing every 18–24 months, depending on usage and laundering frequency. Regular replacement keeps them hygienic, fresh, and supportive, which directly impacts guest comfort and reviews.

Should Hotel Pillows be Washed?

Yes! Always follow the care label, but these general rules apply : Use a pillow protector, gentle warm wash under 40ºC or dry clean. Low heat, tumble dry or line dry. Shake and fluff before reuse

What’s the Best Pillow Type for Budget-Friendly Accommodation?

Medium-profile (600g - 900g) polyester pillows are the go-to for motels and holiday parks — they’re durable, hypoallergenic, easy to wash, and suit most guests. Pairing them with pillow protectors extends their life and reduces replacement costs.
