Commercial bed bases need to be strong, easy to clean around, and long-lasting. Steel or FSC-certified timber frames with replaceable parts are popular choices because they can handle heavy use and are easier (and cheaper) to maintain over time.

How Long Do Hotel or Motel Mattresses Last?

In high-turnover accommodation, mattresses typically last 7–10 years depending on quality, guest volume, and care. Rotating them regularly and using waterproof protectors extends their lifespan and keeps them hygienic. Bed bug encasements can also be "cheap" insurance!

Should I Choose Innerspring or Foam Mattresses for Guests?

Pocket-sprung mattresses remain the most common in hospitality — they provide support, minimise partner disturbance, and are durable. Some properties add a topper to enhance comfort, giving flexibility to adjust the “feel” without replacing the whole mattress.

Do the bases come with headboards?

The Makers Commercial Bed Base is supplied as a stand-alone upholstered base and does not include a headboard. However, it is designed to work with the Bristol Headboard, which is purchased separately and attaches directly to the wall for a neat, commercial finish.

The Makers Steel Bed Frames do come with an integrated headboard as part of the frame.
The Urban Steel Frame is sold as a base but allows you to purchase a matching headboard separately if desired.
