BACKGROUND
DOC (Department of Conservation) manages a network of over 950 huts throughout New Zealand. They provide places to stay, shelter from bad weather, or rest and recovery for those exploring the outdoors. Bunk Beds and Mattresses are provided in most huts for travelers to use during their stay. The Department of Conservation contacted us as they had a need for durable, fit-for-purpose mattresses and covers to stand up to the rigours of their intended use. They were also looking for a supplier who they could count on to have consistent and continual supply.
THE PROJECT
When DOC approached us, we worked with them to ensure our product would best fit their intended use and went on to import our first shipment of mattresses and covers. DOC had previously been purchasing these items from retail stores, making the process very costly and ineffective. This meant they never had security of continual supply and wasted a lot of time shopping around to get enough product. The mattresses we provide come rolled and vacuum-packed, making delivery and transport easy and cost-effective. A lot of the product either needs to be carried or helicoptered in to the huts in some of the most remote terrain in the country.
PROBLEMS WE SOLVED / REASONS FOR PARTNERING WITH VENDELLA
Providing fit-for-purpose product with quick and easy delivery was a real game-changer for the Department of Conservation team. Not having to rely on retail supply meant massive time and cost savings for their team and improved efficiencies across the board. The way our mattresses are packaged and delivered is probably the biggest problem solved as this has made logistics for transport to the huts so much easier.
