Looking to boost guest reviews, improve operational efficiency, and upgrade your room styling without the fuss of duvets? Triple sheeting for hotels is fast becoming the global go-to in the guest accommodation sector – and with good reason.

This smart bed-making method helps you maintain hygiene, improve turnover times, and give guests the fresh, crisp look they expect – all without the hassle of bulky duvet covers..

What Is Triple Sheeting?

Triple sheeting involves layering three flat sheets around a warmth layer (like a blanket or quilt) to create a clean, stylish, and easy-to-maintain bed. Here’s what it looks like:

  1. A fitted or flat sheet over the mattress
  2. A flat sheet as the first top layer
  3. A blanket, quilt, or comforter
  4. A second flat sheet over the top
  5. Folded edges and hospital corners for a polished finish

With triple sheeting for hotels, guests sleep between two freshly laundered sheets – not directly against a reused duvet – giving them confidence in cleanliness.

Why Triple Sheeting Works

✔ Hygiene Reassurance
The top sheet is what your guest touches — and with this method, it’s always freshly laundered. No more questionable doona covers or heavy bedding that’s rarely washed.

✔ Faster Room Turnover
Triple sheeting is quicker than unstuffing and refitting duvet covers — saving your housekeeping team valuable time during busy turnover windows.

✔ Easier Laundry
Flat sheets are easier to wash, dry faster, and fit more easily into your machines. That means less water, power, and time in the laundry room.

✔ Crisp, Cohesive Styling
Triple sheeting delivers a clean, modern look — with sharp folds and a tucked-in finish that instantly elevates the room.

What You’ll Need

To build the perfect triple-sheeted bed, you’ll need:

✔ Base Layers

  • Anti-bed bug encasement – protect your mattresses from pests
  • Luxury mattress topper – adds loft and comfort guests notice
  • Mattress protector – like Duo Plus, for waterproof, noiseless protection

✔ Sheeting (x3)

Use three flat sheets or a fitted sheet + two flats. Weavers 220TC 50/50 polycotton is ideal for durability and wrinkle resistance, while the Diamonds 20/80 polycotton offers more luxury.

✔ Warmth Layer

Choose from:

  • Duvet inner – can be swapped seasonally
  • Boxed-end quilt (270–370gsm) – smooth finish and year-round comfort
  • Light blanket – quick to dry and easy to layer

✔ Decorative Finish

Add a runner, folded blanket, or coordinated cushions for a boutique feel

How to Triple Sheet (Step by Step)

Base prep: Start with mattress encasement, topper, and protector
Bottom sheet: Fit a flat or fitted sheet tightly over the bed
First top sheet: Shake out and smooth evenly over the mattress; pull it to align with the headboard
Add warmth layer: Place the blanket/quilt on top — pull it up about 15cm short of the headboard
Second top sheet: Lay it over the warmth layer and align it with the headboard
Create a fold: Fold both top sheets back 15cm
Final fold: Fold all three layers (both sheets + warmth layer) back another 15cm to create a crisp cuff
Tuck and finish: Tuck in the foot and sides using hospital corners
Style: Add pillows, throws, and cushions to complete the look

Pro Tip: Smooth Fold Lines in Sheets

1. Fit your sheet and ensure it is tucked in tight to create tension
2. Fill a spray bottle with tap water – add a scent to treat your guests
3. Lightly spritz the crease line and smooth with your hand
4. Leave to dry – smooth!
