The Property.

Located in Tahunanui, Nelson, Balmoral Motel offers 14 well-appointed studio and family units just minutes from the beach, walking and cycling trails, and many of the region’s most popular attractions. Catering to a diverse mix of guests, including international and domestic travellers, families, sports teams, school groups and corporate visitors, the motel is designed to be a comfortable home away from home for every stay.

Following an extensive refurbishment, the property combines modern comforts with thoughtful, environmentally conscious choices, creating a welcoming space where guests can relax, recharge and enjoy a great night’s sleep.

The Project.

When Belinda and Peter purchased the motel, the property was showing its age and needed significant investment. As first-time accommodation operators, they were still learning the business when COVID-19 brought tourism to a standstill.

Following the pandemic, they seized the opportunity to close the motel for several months and undertake a complete refurbishment. Alongside replacing beds, bedding, furniture and soft furnishings, they were also committed to making environmentally responsible choices wherever possible. Every decision had to work within budget while delivering a noticeably better guest experience.

Making it Easier.

Having already experienced DreamGreen products, Belinda knew Vendella understood what she was trying to achieve. Rather than coordinating multiple suppliers, she wanted one trusted partner who could provide advice, recommend practical solutions and simplify the entire refurbishment process.

From helping choose the right products for different room types through to coordinating deliveries and quickly resolving the occasional issue, the focus was always on making the project easier. As pallets arrived throughout the refurbishment, Belinda had confidence that she could simply pick up the phone whenever she needed advice or reassurance.

That ongoing relationship is what has kept Balmoral Motel working with Vendella long after the refurbishment was complete.

As Belinda explains:

“It’s just really nice to have people you can turn to if something happens or you need something rather than just shopping to actually go, this is my personal shopper. I’ll ring this person and say, you know what? What do you recommend? And I like that. It’s good.”
