BACKGROUND
One of New Zealand’s newest Holiday Parks, Driftaway Queenstown has very quickly established themselves as the most recognisable Holiday Parks in the country. Located right on the shores of Lake Wakatipu with a stunning view over the lake and surrounding mountain ranges, Driftaway is the perfect base to explore everything that Queenstown has to offer. This unique park has made it their priority to ensure there is a wide range of accommodation options available, which include new architectural cabins made up of family rooms and studio rooms, suiting all budgets and needs. All rooms have been thoughtfully equipped and decorated to suit, creating a refreshing guest experience. All accommodation options have views of the lake, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The holiday park has many facilities for guests to enjoy which include a custom playground for kids, an onsite laundry, large BBQ area, and private hot tubs available for guests and the public to enjoy. With sustainability dear to their hearts, creating guest experiences, and having a healthy respect for the environment at the forefront of their minds, the team at Driftaway are ready to welcome families, holiday makers, and those who just want to relax.
THE PROJECT
With over 40 years of experience in the holiday park industry, owner Rochelle Peychers and co-owners Bryan and Georgia McChlery brought a wealth of knowledge to the creation of Driftaway Holiday Park. Having worked together at the McChlery family’s Te Anau camping ground, the team saw the Queenstown site, once an old caravan park, as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create something truly special for both New Zealand and international travellers.
After securing a 25-year lease and rebuilding the property from the ground up, Driftaway opened its doors in December 2021. From that moment through to today, they’ve partnered with Vendella to bring their vision to life, from dish brushes to bath mats and beds.
Familiar with Vendella from their Te Anau days, Rachel and her team reached out early in the design phase. Working closely with Jim, they leaned on his experience to select durable, sustainable, and beautifully coordinated products that matched their aesthetic and guest experience goals. Conscious of tight timelines and limited storage on-site, Vendella held stock in our warehouse and delivered in stages, ensuring everything arrived right when it was needed.
Now, nearly four years on, Driftaway continues to go from strength to strength — and we’re proud to still be part of their journey.
