BACKGROUND
One of New Zealand’s newest Holiday Parks, Driftaway Queenstown has very quickly established themselves as the most recognisable Holiday Parks in the country. Located right on the shores of Lake Wakatipu with a stunning view over the lake and surrounding mountain ranges, Driftaway is the perfect base to explore everything that Queenstown has to offer. This unique park has made it their priority to ensure there is a wide range of accommodation options available, which include new architectural cabins made up of family rooms and studio rooms, suiting all budgets and needs. All rooms have been thoughtfully equipped and decorated to suit, creating a refreshing guest experience. All accommodation options have views of the lake, and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The holiday park has many facilities for guests to enjoy which include a custom playground for kids, an onsite laundry, large BBQ area, and private hot tubs which will be available soon for guests and the public to enjoy. With sustainability dear to their hearts, creating guest experiences, and having a healthy respect for the environment at the forefront of their minds, the team at Driftaway are ready to welcome families, holiday makers, and those who just want to relax.
THE PROJECT
With over 40 years of experience operating holiday parks, owner Rachel Peyers and co-owners Bryan and Georgia McChlery had a long history working together at a Te Anau camping ground owned by the McChlery family. Seeing the Queenstown site (which previously was an old caravan park) as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop something special for both New Zealand and International travellers. Obtaining a 25-year lease from the council and rebuilding from the ground-up, the project was completed and doors opened December 2021. Rachel and her team were familiar with Vendella as we supplied them at their Te Anau property. They had never managed a project of this size before so contacted Jim to enlist his experience and direction about the right product for the property. After understanding their property and their commitment to sustainable practices, Jim put together a master list of products for their rooms and facilities. Conscious of their opening date, and aware of their limited on-site storage, Vendella were able to hold the stock in our warehouse and deliver the goods as the team at Driftaway needed them.

Knowing we have good quality product, and we are conscious about sustainability made it easy for Diftaway to partner with Vendella. They found us very easy to deal with, and also hold similar core values as out team. They were able to confidently place their order (which was of considerable size) and know when they received it, everything was accurate and as they expected it to be.
